The Greenwood County Road and Bridge Department is charged with the responsibility to construct, maintain, and operate the county road and bridge systems and landfill operation as directed by the Greenwood County Commission. It is the goal of the department to respond to all citizens request in a responsive and professional manner.

Landfill Information
Greenwood County offers a functioning landfill for the disposal of Construction and Demolition debris. This landfill is available to all residents and businesses in Greenwood County and open to any contractors with job sites within county lines.

*There is a $15 minimum dumping fee; an additional $15 per ton is added after the first ton.

- Demolished or burnt down buildings (this includes but is not limited to: insulation, paneling, shingles, siding, drywall, lumber, carpet, etc.)
Items Accepted for NO Charge
- White Goods (hot water heaters, washers, dryers, refrigerators/freezers, air conditioners – with freon removed before dumping)
- Furniture (mattresses, tables, chairs, dressers, end tables, cabinets, etc.) – unless in large quantities
- Clean concrete and asphalt rubble (NO REBAR)
- Trees and brush
- Metal and wire

- Tires (must be brought to County Shop for disposal for a fee)
- Processed (treated) wood
- Bagged or large quantities of leaves and/or grass clippings
- Plastic of any kind
- Fiberglass
- Chemical or Aerosol Containers
- Mobile Homes
- Telephone Poles

Greenwood County owns two recycling trailers, multiple card board bins and glass containers that can be utilized at any of our three locations. Location schedules can be found below.

The Road and Bridge Department offer four large dumpsters onsite to dispose of any municipal household trash. These dumpsters are available for all county residents:
Monday – Thursday 6:30am to 4:30pm

Dump cost ranges depending on the load size. Starting fee is $15 for pickup bed.
*Tires can also be brought to the County Shop for a fee.

Permits for lagoon or septic tank construction are given out by the Greenwood County Road & Bridge office. Applications can be picked up at the office or printed off HERE.
Applications must be filled out and a copy returned to the office before a permit is numbered or valid.

Any hazardous wastes can be brought to the County Shop. Items can be left in front of the cement building next to the Noxious Weed Building. This is no cost to the public.
